IS THERE A CHANCE SAM DARNOLD FALLS OUT OF THE TOP SPOT IN THE 2018 NFL DRAFT?!

Question. Is there a chance Sam Darnold falls out of the top spot in the 2018 NFL Draft?! Sure. There’s a chance. There’s also a chance Tristan Thompson is simply narcoleptic and took a cat nap on that young lady’s cleavage but I highly doubt that either.

Now when you look at the pimples on each of the top quarterback prospects, Sam Darnold seems to bathe in Proactiv while the other cats continue to pop like they’re in hot grease. Josh Allen has a cannon, but at times, can’t hit the broad side of a mountain. Josh Rosen is touted as the purest passer in the draft but teams are ready to give his attitude a hard pass. Baker Mayfield lights it up between the white lines but that also includes flag planting and he-cookie grabbing. And even though Lamar Jackson is the most electric player in the draft, it would be a huge shock if he’s the first pick in the draft given accuracy issues of his own. And even though NFL teams think Darnold’s wind up could use a “wrap it up box” and his 2017 campaign wasn’t as lit as 2016, he’s the safest QB in the draft and the Browns really can’t afford to “F” this up.  

And why is that? The Browns have been really bad for a really long time! It’s been a decade since their last winning season, they haven’t made a playoff appearance since 2002 and they haven’t won a playoff game since 1994. 1994! Arsenio Hall’s “Dawg Pound” was still poppin’ in 1994! So when you haven’t had consistent quarterback play since Bernie Kozar and Vinny Testaverde roamed the sidelines, you have to make sure you pick a quarterback that can 1) BALL and 2) energize a fan base that hasn’t had much to cheer for since the team returned to Cleveland in 1999. This is why I expect the Browns to scoop up Sam Darnold at #1 and then run it back with either Saquan Barkley or Bradley Chubb at #4. If the Browns can pull that off, then they may finally get their “Dawg Pound” poppin’ again because, DAMN, the Browns have been really bad for a really long time!
